1932 marked another milestone for Ford Motor Company. The Model A was now history, with the introduction of the all new Model B and its V-8 powered Model 18 companion, which was the first mass produced V-8 in the low price field. Over the years they both became known as the Deuce, particularly when hot rodders got their hands on them. So many '32 Fords were modified that these days, a bone stock version is fairly rare.
30 years later the Deuce was destined to mark another milestone, when AMT introduced the Model B roadster as it's very first offering in their fabled Trophy Series. A number of variations appeared over the next couple of years, including the V-8 Coupe, the Model B Sports Roadster, and the Victoria. A sedan version followed later, combined with a '41 Willys in one of the first Double Kits, but neither had the necessary parts for a stock build. As soon as the first Model B roadster kit hit the shelves of my local hobby shop I snapped one up. Back in those days, I frequently built kits very quickly, only to rebuild and modify them numerous times, often with less than successful results. |
